Online Card Classes – Simply Watercolor Class

  • As you can see, I am a total novice at watercoloring. I use Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers to color in stamped images, but that is the extent of my watercoloring. I did one of the cards from class, using a grid. My card should make even the most inexperienced watercolor students feel better about their projects!:)

Simon Says Stamp Doodlebug Challenge — June 4, 2018

Simon Says Stamp Doodlebug Challenge

The theme for this challenge is to use Doodlebug products. I bought this adorable Christmas Squad stamp and die set from a Simon Says Stamp last November. I had already done most of my Christmas cards when I bought it. I knew I wanted to use it this year. I bought several Doodlebug Milk and Cookies 6 by paper pads to go with it.

I made my first card with it tonight. I used Chameleon markers to color the images. I touched them up with some Wink of Stella, and Spectrum Sparkle makers to add some shine. I also added some Sakura Glaze pens for some accents. I used Nuvo Crystal Drops in Gloss Dandelion Yellow, Ripened Pumpkin, and Carnation Pink for my ornaments on my Christmas tree. I like the dimension and shine they add to the tree.

I used Doodlebug Milk and Cookies red and white striped paper for my wall. The floor was cut from a My Favorite Things paper pad. I used a Versamark Dazzle ink pad to stamp my sentiment. I added Stampendous Winter Wonderland Embossing Powder, and heat embossed my sentiment.

The inside of my card features the cute cookies from this stamp set. The sentiment is an Anna Griffin sentiment that was drawn with my Cricut Explore, using Cricut gel pens.

I love this stamp set, and will be making more of these cards. I learned that it is much easier to do the heat embossing before you add all of the elements to your card. I had fun making this card. The cute images make me smile. I hope there are more stamp sets made with adorable Doodlebug images!

Doodlebug Toucan Card for Simon Says Stamp Challenge

I just love Doodlebug, and have so many of their wonderful paper collections, washi tape, and sprinkles. I really liked this Doodlebug Toucan image. I purchased it on LoriWhitlock.com . I cut it out on my Cricut Explore, using Die Cuts With a View shimmer paper. I used a cute patterned paper from Doodlebug’s Fun In the Sun paper collection for my background. I thought the Toucan needed a little white touch to his eye, so I added a drop of Crystal Nuvo Crystal Drops in Gloss White. The Toucan made me smile, so I added the Lawn Fawn Scripty Smile sentiment to the front of the http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/wednesdaychallenge/

I love Doodlebug, and have been buying their paper collections for years ! For this card, I used a Doodlebug Flamingo SVG file that I bought on Lori Whitlock’s site, LoriWhitlock.com . I cut it out with my Cricut Explore, using Die Cuts With a View Shimmer paper in various colors. For my background, I used two Sizzix 3D Embossing Folders- Tropical Leaves, and  Cobblestone. I liked the flamingo with the tropical leaves, and thought that he needed some water to stand in. I added a strip of Doodlebug Washi tape to the front to blend the two embossing panels. For the inside of my card, I used Lawn Fawn’s Scripty Smile die, and another strip of Doodlebug Flamingo washi tape. I just love this Flamingo. Doodlebug makes the cutest images!

Lawn Fawn Underwater Card —

Lawn Fawn Underwater Card

For this card, I used the Lawn Fawn You Are Sublime stamp and die set. I used Lawn Fawn’s Watercolor Wishes in blue and green for my waves. I used Lawn Fawn’s Stitched Ocean Waves dies to cut the waves on my card. I layered my waves on my card front, and added my stamped images to the waves.

For the inside of my card, I used Lawn Fawn’s Shadow Box die. I like the cute card it makes, but want it to be bigger. I added it to the inside of my card, as an interactive element. I used a new Sizzix 3 D embossing folder and inked it with Distress Oxides to make it look like water. I also die cut a piece of Lawn Fawn paper with Lawn Fawn Stitched Rectangle die to add my sentiment. I like that the shadow box is hidden, and opening the card gives you an unexpected surprise.

Lawn Fawn Amusement Park card — May 30, 2018

Lawn Fawn Amusement Park card

For this card, I used my new Lawn Fawn Coaster Critters stamp and die set. I thought it would go great with the Lawn Fawn Admit One stamp set, so I added that too. I wanted to find more cute little critters sized the same as the Coaster Critters. I found an adorable little chipmunk on the Lawn Fawn Joy to the Woods stamp set. I also found a cute set of squirrels and a bird on the Lawn Fawn Cheery Christmas stamp set. All of the images were colored with Chameleon markers. I am not very good at alcohol markers, so I am learning with these markers. The paper used for the card was Lawn Fawn Perfectly Plaid Spring, and Lawn Fawn Let’s Polka in the Meadow. The dies used were Lawn Fawn Stitched Hillside Backdrop Portrait, and Lawn Fawn Stitched Cloud Backdrop Portrait.

Lawn Fawnatics Challenge — May 21, 2018

Lawn Fawnatics Challenge

For this challenge, I played with the Lawn Fawn One in a Chameleon stamp and die set. I colored the images with Zig Clean Color brush markers. The chameleon needed some sparkle, so I added a clear color Spectrum Sparkle marker to him. I used Lawn Fawn Circle Stackables for my inner circle. The outer circle was cut with my new Lawn Fawn Zig Zag Circle Stackables. The sentiment strip was cut with My Favorite Things Stitched Fishtail Sentiment Strips. I decided that a white sentiment strip was too plain for this chameleon. I used my Distress Oxide, and Distress Inks to give it more of a rainbow look. I used Carved Pumpkin, Candied Apple, Wild Honey, Spiced Marmalade, Salty Ocean, and Lucky Clover to spice up the sentiment strip.

The background was a Sizzix Time Holtz 3 D Embossing Folder, called Lumber. Love how it gives the look and texture of wood. I inked it with Distress inks and Oxides as well. I used Spiced Marmalade, Squeezed Lemonade, and Broken China to ink up my “wood”

I think this colorful chameleon enjoys the colors all around him!

Lawn Fawnatics Fun With Dies Challenge

I made this card for a little girl who was turning 6. I used Lawn Fawn’s Stitched Cloud Backdrop Landscape die for my sky background on the outside and inside of the card. I also used the Lawn Fawn Sun and Moon dies on both the front and inside of the card. I used the Lawn Fawn Stitched Hillside Backdrop Landscape for my hills on the front of the card. I used the adorable Lawn Fawn Hay There stamps and dies for the cute farm animals. On the inside of the card, I used the Lawn Fawn Stitched Hillside Pop Up die, as well as the Grassy Hillside Pop Up Add On die. I love playing with the pop up dies and making a scene for the adorable Lawn Fawn images. Hope the recipient enjoys her card. I had fun making it!

I wanted to make a card for my Dad’s birthday that had more of a “wow” factor. I love the Lawn Fawn Stitched Hillside POP Up Dies. I used the Lawn Fawn Stitched Cloud Landscape for my background on the front and inside of the card. I used the Lawn Fawn Grassy Hillside Pop Up Add On die for my grass on the front and inside of the card. I decided to use the adorable Lawn Fawn Wild For You Stamp and die set for my cute critters. They posed on the outside and inside of my card. The Lawn Fawn Sun and Moon die was also used on the outside and inside of this card. I had fun coloring these stamped images, and adding them to the popped up background. I meant to get a picture from the side of the card, but I needed to mail it. It was my dad’s 89th birthday. He loved the card .

Lawn Fawnatics Card Challenge — March 4, 2018

Lawn Fawnatics Card Challenge

For this challenge, we are to try a new technique. I tried using color pencils to color the new Lawn Fawn Little Flowers die set. I used Prismacolor pencils in many colors to color the flowers, stem, and flower pot.  I cut the images out of watercolor paper, and just colored them with the Prismacolor pencils. I layered on many colors to try to give it a little more color and some dimension. Of course, I don’t know what I am doing with them, but I did like the flower pot. I used the new Lawn Fawn Quilted Backdrop die for my background pieces. I used Tim Holtz’s Distress Oxides to color the smaller piece of Quilted Backdrop. I love to play with the Distress Oxides. The flower pot and flowers were popped up with dimensional adhesive.
